We Are Baptized With the Holy Spirit at the Moment of Salvation
A fundamental belief of the Christian faith is that once we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior we receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at that moment.
The bible teaches that there is one Baptism, and that Baptism is when we receive the Holy Spirit into our human spirit at the moment of our conversion.
The following verses are key verses that will show us that we receive the Holy Spirit at the moment of our conversion into our faith in Jesus Christ. The first verse tells us that there is only one Baptism. The second verse tells us that we receive the Holy Spirit at the moment of our conversion. The third and forth verse tells us that it is the Holy Spirit Himself that we are being Baptized with. The remaining verses tell us that the Holy Spirit is living inside of us sealing us with His presence.
v Ephesians 4:4-5 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
v Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
v Matthew 3:11 “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
v Mark 1:8 “I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
v 1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
v 1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
v 1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
v Romans 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
v Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
v Ephesians 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
v 2 Corinthians 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,
v Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation–having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
v 2 Corinthians 5:5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge.
The Holy Spirit is God and Lord Himself and is the third Person of the Triune Godhead. When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we get to receive the Holy Spirit at that exact moment, not sometime later. As such, this revelation from the Lord has to also be considered a basic fundamental of the Christian faith.
